Wow I am so extremely happy to be going of on safari, but before any of that I will recap my trip in much more detail. We started of the trip in Lilongwe working with Steve and Ephraim handing out bags of hope and giving bags of food to the villages! Afterwards we went to Palm Beach in Mongochi where we made a day trip to chikulo to look at schools Unga1 and 2 where we saw great improvement with the money we put in at one school, but the other was quiet disappointing for they did not use the money at all. Who can guess which school gets money this trip..........if you guessed the one that used our money for the school you are absolutely right! After that we went to visit Ritas school. At Rita`s school we were in awe on how much work she has put into her project in the last two years, therefore we gave much money to continue buying work material for the upcoming school year. After an amazing stay at Palm Beach we were sad to have to head out of the beautifal city of Mongochi. Now we were visiting many of Catherines projects in Mongochi but now we went to visit more in Blantyre were we were just more amazed with what Catherine was doing. we then went to visit Sam in Salima where we saw some great things being done but now we are back in Lilongwe getting ready to for safari oh boy this trip has gone by fast!!!!! I feel like I have been through so much this trip for I have already had two infections. Here is the story, In Palm Beach I popped a bracket on my braces. We then had to go to a Malawian Orthodontist where he glued a new bracket on but caused a new problem by putting the wire so its poking in to my gum which was extremely painful so just a few days ago we went to a dentist who used to live in Canada EH!? Who cut my wire and healed my sore which was very infected because the wire drilled a hole in my gum I felt so relieved until after when I realised my mosquito bite was getting infected so we put some antibiotics on thinking it would help until, two days later it was the size of a boil and extremely, extremely painful that it almost had me in tears the squeezing, it was so bad that at first it was Okay but there was so much puss I had to make them stop and go to the clinic where he froze it then squeesed a tonn more puss out...ouch!!!!!!!!!!now all the puss is out but I am still in extreme pain.

Now of to Safari!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow....it has been quiet difficult to get internet access on this trip so here is a quick recap........Once we left Lilongwe we went to mongochi and visited tracies and catherines projects before we left for blantyre where we went to visit more of Catherines projects.....so then we left for Salima to visit Sams projects........it is late at night and I need to get to bed so I will write much more tommorow

Last day in Lilongwe

Tommorow is our last day Lilongwe. We have had so much fun so far helping the children and speaking to the adults!!!!! We are also very excited to go of into mongochi, chikulo area. Where help is most needed. We have already handed out 516 bags of hope!!!!! Which is amazing!!!! We have yet to start our journey so there is not much to say. Although we are extremely excited we are very tired from the travel. We have much sleep to catch up on, yet very very happy to be here.

I will write there is more to say but for now have a great summer,

Wow I can not believe we have finally landed in the beautifal land of Malawi, the warm heart of Africa! I feel so blessed to be back with the warm hearted people. On the first day of travel we went to Toronto, then the plane was over night to London. After we spent the day in London we took another overnight to Nairobi Kenya, then that trouble came, first the plane was layed over one hour, then again another hour,after that there was a problem with the luggage that took over another hour,and continually problems erupted. We finally landed in Lilongwe......4 HOURS LATE!!!!!!!!!! Anyways that did not matter because we were back in the magnificant country, and that was all that mattered. The first day came and all we did was relax for we could not leave the guest house, for we arrived too late in the day to go shopping for supplies. Sadly we still have not had time to exchange our money into kwacha, so yesterday we just did some meeting dear friends. Now today we have gone to area 25 church for the sunday morning service and handed out many bags of hope!!!!!!!!!!!!! Afterwards we went to eat at Ephriam`s house.........So far I have had extreme fun! But the fun has yet to start............. It is still the begining........we still have a long trip ahead of us......All I have left to say is ........I am so so so so happy to be back in Malawi

Wow I can not wait for Malawi, it has come so quickly I know that this trip will be a great success! This trip we will be traveling as a team of four; my mom,my sister,Hannah Wilson, and myself, and we plan on educating, feeding, and blessing the people of Malawi. Through visiting villages with Mick and Tracy as well as Steve and Ephraim. I beleive we are slowly making a differance in long term care for malawi. Which I beleive is great! We are also about 1/8 of the way to my goal of $800 000 dollars we beileve that through education we can change anything. We believe this because education is the key to a well self sustained country. Which is essential to change a country from poverty. I believe we can provide this to such a magnificant country filled with amazing people, My heart is set on making a change in Malawi and this third trip is still just the beginning to a process on changing a third world country to a wealthier country. Malawi can then influence other african nations and hopefully help change africa in general!

I will write to you soon while I am in Malawi, in the mean time everyone have a great summer, for I know I will,

Wow I can not believe how quickly Malawi is coming up. Only one and a half months until we will go and help Malawi. I can`t wait, it has been so long since our last trip, over two years!!!!!!! Back to Malawi

I am very excited! For we are going back to Malawi this summer, our tickets are booked to

leave July 28th, and will be back August 23th. Me and the team are very excited to see everyone

we met the first two trips! Not to mention the gorgeous country it`s self, this trip my mom and I

are bringing my sister and a family friend Hannah.

This trip we plan on focusing mostly on education because we believe education is the key

to changing a country. We focus by trying to hand out as many notebooks and pencils possible

as well as retro fitting schools, putting a dear Malawian friend through medical school and

also two boys we met, through public school.

Hey as many as you guys know hope for malawi is having a huge feast! I am very excited

because today is the big day. Just thinking about the feast gets me super excited to be raising

money to go again in august!!!! SO PLEASE COME and enjoy an authentic malawian feast as we

We are going back to Malawi!!

It's official!! We are going back to Malawi in August 2010. I am so excited to go and see my friends again. We will meet with Hope our nursing student, visit the site our medical clinic is going to go up on and also hopefully hand out at least 500 Bags of Hope!!

We have a few fundraisers happening:

Sunday, September 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Spaghetti dinner at Oliver Road Community Ctre in Thunder Bay, Ontario. All you can eat or take out. Tickets only $7.00! We will also have a bake table.

Youth Dance: Grades 4 to 8. Every 2nd Friday of the month beginning October 7th. 7;00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Held at North End Rec Ctr. on Huron Street. Admission only $5.00
Come and hang out with your friends and have a fun night. Will be fully supervised!

I am getting excited about going again. I can't wait!

Me and hope for Malawi have won 1 000 dollars for the organisation from the WWE [World Wrestling Entertainement] for being a monthly community champion and that money can go a long way in malawi in so many ways thank you all for your continuous support and I`m sorry for not writing much lately but I will hopefully write again soon!

We got the results for the Maxwell House Brew Some Good contest and we won! We got $10,000 dollars! And that can finish the medical clinic we left money behind for in Chikulo, Malawi. And hopefully start building another school. It is just such a blessing. And it'll just help the people in Malawi so much. It is just so great. I feel so good about winning. It's so amazing. It was an amazing trip

It was an amazing trip. We are helping to put up a clinic, and we helped open up a preschool, helped fix up two schools, and we handed out a lot of Bags of Hope. Also, while we were there, we met two other amazing contacts. We were able to meet with Katherine (an older Malawian lady who is running alot of preschools and a women's internation network and is still going at the age of 73), and Mick & Tracy who started off as being our Safari guides. With them we are doing the preschool and the clinic. And with katherine, we've been helping the kids of her preschools by giving them Bags of Hope, sweaters and underwear. And with katherine we helped a group with HIV by giving them food and supplies. We also have known that Katherine has started up a damn for a community with fish to eat and water to water their crops. And in that, she also stopped the community from low water flooding. Like I said it was an amazing trip and I'm glad to be back - but at the same time I'm not. I really hope I can go back in two years and see all the people of Malawi again. Bye for now!

Getting ready to leave

Today we are leaving back home. It doesn't feel like it's been 3 weeks. I wish I could stay here for a little bit longer. Everything is packed and the flight leaves in 5 hours it leaves at 1:20 Malawian time. We will be back 10:37 a.m. (Canandian time) this Saturday. It's been an amazing experience to be here. We've helped plenty of kids and have given people money for their projects. And our scholarship student Hope, is still in nursing school. We spoke to her by cell phone and due to strict school rules we were unable to visit. I'll write more about my trip when I get back.

Getting Prepared

So, some of you guys are going to wonder what it is about from the title, we really are going to sleep in a village hut tonight. Well, that is our time zone here. We bought 5 mats for the team that are made of straw and aren't even a centimeter thick that we will sleep on. Earlier today, we visited the last few pre-schools in the Mangochi area and some of the kids were so terrified, because out where we were they've never seen a white person because it so far away from the central big cities. They were so scared that they were squirming out of their mother's arms like nothing!! Man, I never knew a little child was capable of running that fast!! She just zoomed away from me!!

Yesterday, we visited a group that were HIV positive. There was eight adults and two babies. And it was very hard for the mother's with the babies because they weren't suppose to nurse their child but they had no choice because babies need milk. So we thought about it and we decided that we should give them some money to get milk for the babies and so that everybody can be strong and well nourished. And we are thinking and praying about how much more we should leave them with.

This will be my last blog until I am back in Lilongwe, but if I can I will write to you as soon as possible. Bye for now.

A safari and one church

Ever since the man with the infected finger, I'm just gonna tell you a little bit about what we've done. So we went on a 2 day safari with 3 game rides. We saw lots of animals, including lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, baboons and many others. Funny story about the baboons, while we were just hanging out one of the baboons tried to steal Lily's chips. Funny how it knew what to go for. And then the went for the pop.

We also went to Dedza today where it is known to make amazing pottery, the best in Malawi. And it's a world wide tourist attraction and we met a woman who was HIV positive and she had a little one year old son and so we quickly talked about it and we gave her money to pay for the medication for at least 2 years. And we are hoping the little boy doesn't have HIV too.

Later on this week, we are going to be heading to a remote village called Mangochi. There we will sleep in a village hut, and get to see what a village life is like.

It's just so amazing to be back and to hear all the same songs but at the same time it is hard to see how poor they are. For example, Hiv, lack of food and nutrition and just the malnourished stomaches.

Poor man with an infected finger

As you can tell by the title, I will be talking about a man we met with a very badly infected finger. Our first set of remote villages we went to, we met him and Clint being a nurse said that if he didn't get medical attention the infection could spread and maybe result in death. Sadly, I don't know how, but we just left the village and we just felt so guilty that we had a team meeting and decided that we would go out there, get that man and pay for his medical attention. So we drove out to the village today and met with his sons and wife and they said he had already left by foot in the morning and he wouldn't have just tooken the main road he would have tooken short cuts and all the paths. So we squeezed in his son and he showed us the way. It was a very big adventure. While we passed the small villages, we would throw candies out the windows for the kids. Finally we had found him and we prayed for him and asked him if we could pour some water that we had prayed over - over his hand. So we squeezed him in and we drove him to the hospital. Finally when we got to the hospital, it turns out we had to wait for an hour -which turned into many. We waited as long as we could but finally we just had to give him some money to cover his expenses, a ride back and to just bless him. And so we were off. We felt so good that we helped this man and hopefully we can figure out how everything went and hopefully it's good. I won't be able to write to you for a few days for where I'm going there will be no internet. I'll write as soon as possible. God Bless you.

Great to be back!!

I'm finally back!! It's my second time and it's just beautiful. We have gone to two villages, and handed out just under 400 Bags of Hope. We've bought 90- 50 Kilogram bags of maize and I've done some catching up with old friends. It's nice to have a bigger team and we have been making Bags of Hope night after night.

The villages were full of poverty, malnourished stomaches, ripped clothes and one man had a very bad infection on his finger and can die from it if he doesn't see a doctor. And he lives far out from Lilongwe, so that can't be good.

It's so nice to come back and hear all the same songs. There's not much more to say, I'll write to you soon. That is your Malawi update.......

Things are going good!

As you can tell from the title, things are going good. We are at about $14,000 for this trip and we have two more fundraisers. One is the pancake breakfast which is 2 days before we leave and a Maltese Meat Order which is running all of May. We have finished our schedule of what we are doing in Malawi and I'm so anxious to be going soon. And guess what!!?? We are actually going to be able to sleep in a village hut - it will be very fun! But I'm a little bit nervous about the bugs. At least we're already immunized. I really, really can't wait. From the title as you may tell our flights are booked and we are going FOR SURE!!!! We are planning on helping more with Hope (our nursing student). She is still in nursing school and she has just transferred schools. Our plan is to educate nurses and Doctors so that we can open up a clinic. We have 3 more fundraisers and they are a spaghetti dinner which is April 27th, Bon Voyage Pancake Breakfast on May 31st and a Maltese meat order. We are hoping to change Malawi some more and to really make a difference. We will be doing Bags of Hope again and we are looking for people to donate small toys, girls underwear and other small items. And that is your hope for Malawi update. Write to you soon.

Valentine's Chocolate Fest

As you may have guessed from the title, yes, soon we will be having a Valentine's Chocolate Fest. There is going to be all the chocolates that you can imagine! It is gonna be February 15th from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. I don't know about you, but that's a party I wanna go to. All proceeds will go to Malawi.

Speaking about Malawi, Hope our scholarship student is switching schools because her school closed down and this school is alot more expensive than the other so there are going to be a few tough times. But I still believe we can get this amount of money too because I believe God is supporting my mission. And hopefully things will work out.

Hope is going to nursing school, her parents have died and she's watching her siblings. And she really wants to become a nurse to help others. So that's why we are supporting her.

2nd Annual Hope for Malawi Feast

We are having our 2nd Hope for Malawi feast on November 10th starting at 6:30 p.m. Same as last year, we are serving traditional Malawian food that the villagers there eat! This time we'll even be closer to the taste as we've been there and they taught us how to cook some of their foods!!

It will be held at Thunder Bay Christian Fellowship, 515 N. Syndicate Ave. (Behind the Dairy Queen on May St.) Come out enjoy the food, see how we helped in Malawi in January when we went and hear about our plans to return to help the kids in June 2008!! We are sooo excited.

The meal will be a semi-formal so dress up and come and have some fun. We will again be having a silent auction with many great items to bid on! Tickets are $20, please call 622-1030 for more info or for tickets!

The Warm heart of Africa

In Malawi they gave us a very warm welcome. Like joy and happiness but underneath those smiles they carry a burden of pain, suffering and hunger. They're very nice and they need help. And they just can't survive without our help. So I just want to help them more and more. So I'm going back to Malawi hopefully in Spring 2008. And I would like your guys help. I'll write to you soon. As you may know, we have sent Hope some money for nursing school. For those of you who don't know, she is a lady who lives in Malawi who lost her parents and now is watching her younger siblings and one died shortly after we left. Well we raised up money for Hope. A little bit after she got it she was in a car accident and she's probably gonna need fake teeth and work on her face. Please pray for her. The Thieves

A few days ago a group of men attempted to break into the property of the Jonats (the missionaries in Malawi) and one of the guards tried to keep them out and they threw a gasoline bomb at the guard. And he is in alot of pain. When the Jonats came back they were shocked to see police in their property and they just left right away to go to the police station and came back with more. Please keep the guard in your prayers. He is a very good man and to the Jonats he is family and he feels like family to me also. So just keep him in your prayers.

But also we have some good news, we are going back to Malawi in about one year, next June. We don't have a date yet or anything, but we still have alot of time to get a date. We are really excited to go back, we feel like a year is too long to wait. But at least we have more time to fundraise instead of 4 months. Please keep us in your prayers also. And I will write to you soon.

We're at it again!!

Just wanted every-one to know that Jaako is going back to Malawi in June 2008!! We were very successful our last campaign raising around $32,000 in only a few months. Thanks to all of you who made it happen. The children were greatly blessed and we want to do it again.

On Saturday, June 23rd, we are having a yard sale at Thunder Bay Christian Fellowship, 515 N. Hot Dog and Bake Sale

We are having a hot dog and bake sale after our church service on Sunday May 20th. It will start around noon. Hot Dogs and Pop will be a dollar each and we will have cheap baking!! You can come out even if you don't come to our church. Just show up around noon. All the money raised will go to Pastor Paul who I've written about in an earlier blog. One of the pastors in Malawi, Pastor Paul his wife died a little while ago and he is asking for a loan to start grinding maize so his family can survive. Before we went to Malawi his son died and his house burnt down so we really want to help this family out. So if you guys would like to donate to Pastor Paul, that would be a great help. He needs $1,000 US dollars to start this. And he is going to try to repay the money that we give him and we're going to try and use that money to help kids go to school. So is it a win-win situation? or is it a win-win situation. Cause the money that you give now will be going to two things, so am I right? or am I right? Just a quick hello

Just recently the missionary Kim Weiler and Pastor Roberto came to my church. As you know from my first blogs that it was Kim Weiler that told everyone in the church to go up to the front and see what God has for you. And that is how my whole trip began. so we had a little discussion together about Guatemala and Malawi about there differences and similarities. Most of the things were similar but there were certain things that were different. Like both places are very good at art and crafts and all that and we talked about the difference like there money exchanges. Our family is thinking about going back to Malawi in June 2008 but this time would be nice to go with the whole family, so I will write to you soon.

A couple stories from my trip

Hi, Today I'm gonna talk about some cute little stories about things I saw in Malawi. One time this little boy was looking at us confused because we were white and we were just looking at him and all of a sudden we saw a yellow liquid coming out of his pants. And if you are wondering about what I am talking about, I'm talking about the boy peed. That happened alot to us where we saw little boys pee their pants and all these different kids would walk through it and sit in it and not even care.

There were a couple of times where kids would look at us for about 5 minutes and all of a sudden would start crying if we came to them. All the younger kids were really scared that we were white. It made us sad that they felt so scared.

I'm really missing being in Malawi. I can't wait until next time and I will write to you again next week.

Thoughts about Malawi

Today we were at Starbucks and we bought a couple snacks and a coffee and a hot chocolate and we were joking around that the hot chocolate cost so much money and it only costs $1.35. So then when we started to think about it more we could have sent two children to school in Malawi and like just think about it, your coffee everyday can send a child to school. Just one little coffee, approximately a dollar can send a child to school and still have $.35 left. And $.65 can just buy a note book and a pencil and their salaries are only about $1.oo a day so they don't have the money to do that. To spend all their money that they get in one day to send their child to school so they just don't educate them. Just a few thoughts to think about. Thank-you all for coming out to the report night. It turned out to see alot of nice faces there. My trip was wonderful. We're thinking about getting scholarships for different people in Malawi to help them survive but specifically for this one woman named Hope. Her parents died awhile ago and now one of her younger sisters has died and she really wants to be a nurse. So we want to try and give her that scholarship. It's gonna cost $700 every year for 3 year and she can't afford that but people here can afford that. I really hope we can help alot of people to get scholarships. I thank all of you for helping me with my trip and I'll write to you soon.

It is so nice to be home. To be back and see all the snow instead of always seeing green grass. It is so nice to be back with everybody that I already know and talk to them about my trip. Not many kids in Malawi had clothes that didn't have holes in them. I liked going to all the villages there and hear them sing so wonderfully and be able to help them. It was so nice to meet new people there. While we were there, we went to alot of villages and got to bring them supplies like maize, oil, rice, cane sugar, salt and either some goats or some chickens. Looking about how happy the kids were when I gave them their bags, their faces just lit up. Even if I waved to them, their faces would light up. They were so happy that I had came to help them. I'm really looking forward to next year. The people would clap when we had said that we were buying them supplies and they would sing songs. Their singing is so beautiful. I will write to you soon.

Hey there,

We have just been home for about 3 days now and it's been great to be home. In Africa it was just hard to be eating in front of the Malawians. (Like in restaraunts) There's so many so we just can't give our food over. The poverty there is just hard to believe. The difference between how much we get and they get is again hard to believe. They only eat a little bit of maize everyday and that's pretty much all they get to eat. Their clothes look like they've been worn for about two years without taking them off or washing them. And they have holes and they are dirty and the colours are like nothing we get. There shoes have like holes by their toes and they are all torn up. We left for one village a whole bunch of shoes and a whole bunch of clothes for another. I will write to you again soon.

Hey guys, this is Sue Jaako's mom. It's good to be back. Hard but good at the same time. It's incredible how different our life style is from most in Malawi. The things we take for granted are amazing. The people there actually truly have nothing. They have a hut, usually an outdoor kitchen (fire pit with a roof), and maybe a few plates, cups, and something to sit on. We were invited to eat in the villages quite a few times, and it saddened me that they prepared for us their very best. In most places we had chicken although they don't get chicken often. It was hard to eat knowing that they needed it more. But you ate first, and then the household ate what was left. We always took as little as we could with out being insulting. Little meat and lots of Nsima (their corn flour staple) Then they always provided us with a Coke or orange Fanta!! It's actually hard to write right now because there is so much to say, so many experiences to tell that we don't know where to start. Maybe a little each day. It gets overwhelming at times. Blessings to all of you that prayed for us and supported our trip and to those who helped the Malawians. We made a difference. Small but sure!!!!!

You guys probably all know what that means, because I have already said it in one of my blogs. How are you? Everything has been going great here in Malawi. When we went into Zambia, it was just flooded like crazy. We were there for two days. And it was hard to see all these homes flooded. We saw some kids playing in the water and then they would put their hands in their mouths. Cause they don't know what is happening to that water so that is how diseases are spreaded. I feel bad for everybody in Malawi and Zambia. We have been giving to most of the communities 5 bags of maize, 1 bag of rice and sugar, salt and oil. These are some of the foods that they need to live. It is really nice to be here and help many of the villages. We have just enjoyed it very very much. But it is also very heartbreakening with the poorness that is here. I will talk more another day. Tomorrow we set off to Blantyre for 2 nights for our last opportunity to help people. I'll talk more when I get back to Canada.

Today when we went to a chief's house to eat some good Malawian food, these kids from the village wanted to see me. So we let the kids into the yard, which really isn't that much room and I told them 3 bible stories and played tag with them. It was wonderful. And most of them asked Jesus into their hearts for the very first time, including one man who had snuck in. And the man thanked me very very much for telling him about Jesus. I feel so happy for him.

Hey Guys,
The poverty here is incredible, the need here is big. If you have a bike here, you are considered rich. I've bought 5 bikes so far and given 2 of them away already. All of the kids clothes have holes in them and some don't wear clothes and their shoes are not good at all. Not many kids even have shoe's. The have many cuts from falling down. And there are alot of disease here. It's hard to believe. Bye for now.

Hi everybody, this is Sue, Jaako's mom now. Jaako says it great when he says it is hard to believe. The need here is bigger than I ever imagined. We went to a small market place and handed out some candies and Bags of Hope to the children there and they were just amazed. At 2 other markets we started handing out gum and sweets and we were literally mobbed by the children. We were pushed back against the vehicles by the kids trying to grab the bag and crying Madam or Boy Please!!! Give me some!! It was horrific. All for candy. Every where we go we are asked for money. By all ages, not just the children. The market places are the worst. You try to buy from every one just so they can have a next meal!! I'm coming home with lots of African carvings and bowls!!!! But they all beg you to buy, some have not eaten that day and need a sale. Some of course use that to make the sale. You kind of get to know who is being sincere or not. The Malawians can't lie. If they are smiling big - they are not telling you the truth!!! Please pray for us as we try to help people. The need is so great and our funds are sooooo small in comparison - we hate being the ones to decide who gets and who doesn't. Sometimes God tells ones of us very strongly to buy something so we do. We bought 57 shoes for a small village because they were mostly bare footed there!!! This is the stuff we are going to be giving to the families We have just met two pastors. They are great people of God. I’m really looking forward to going into the village tomorrow. When we went to market where they just sell little things that they made, they’d all come up to you and they would never leave you and they would tell you to buy this. And they say they will give it to you for a good price.

(Hey guys, this is Sue, Jaako’s mom, we apologize but it is very difficult to get an internet connection here so this entry contains two days. This is an amazing country with beauty and hard-ache all rolled into one. The need is so great. Beyond our small hands. The Malawians are beautiful people with very warm hearts and ready smiles. We will try in the next few days upload a picture onto the blog. Please partner with us in prayer as we visit village to village. We experience the greatest joy and the greatest sadness within minutes of each other.)

(Jaako) We have gone to two churches now. They worship beautifully! They pray to God, they sing and they dance. And I told a couple bible stories, and it worked out pretty well. And when they got the Ziploc bags, they were very happy. Not only were we only able to help the children, we were able to help the whole church. We bought 5 bags of maize (50kg each), one bag of rice (25 kg) , oil, sugar and salt for them to share. We bought one of the pastors a bike and there is four still stored at the Jonats. Here are many many differences. Everything is opposite how they function things. Like lights, fans, how you drive and other things. It was just so cool going to the churches. Bye for now.

Lately we have got around $28,000 raised and we got around 530 Bags of Hope. I just can't really wait until we go, I'm just getting so excited now that it is so soon. I just can't wait. I'm really looking forward to meeting the children and getting to know them. I really want to try and help the adults that haven't died from AIDS yet and even get to know them too. I really want to change this Nation and just help them. I'm a little bit nervous about going on the plane because I haven't been on one since I was two. Happy New Year everybody! It's a pleasure to have all you guys reading my blog. I'm going very very very soon. In about 2 and 1/2 weeks. I really can't wait to see the children. We went to St. Ignatius before Christmas and they presented us with $700!! And my school gave me $400 and a digital camera for the trip with a memory card that holds 1,742 pictures on it. I thank-you St. Ignatius and St. Bernard. You guys have been a big help. $700 could keep 5-7 families for when I leave so that they can survive on their own. $400 can do 2-4 families. Hey guys, there's only 3 weeks until I'm going. We will be starting to pack up and get ready. I really want to change what's happening there and I can't explain my emotions its just that the poverty there it's just so incredible. I just want to make Malawi a different country and just get to know the people. And be able to help them and buy them what they need. And just help all the orphaned children. I really can't wait.

And just today we got a $243.33 donation from the daycare at the college named Family and Children Centre!! And just think about a day care giving $243.00. LIke God is working something here. Thank-you so much daycare for your support. I had alot of fun meeting them today. Right now God has His eye on Malawi. Like Madonna, Unicef, me and others are helping Malawi. Hey Guys,

Just so you know it has been me writing these blogs sometimes my mom will type it and I'll say it because it goes alot faster. The only time my mom writes is if she writes from Sue. I hope that you know that it is true because it is.

Hey Guys,
Did you know that Malawi is the 2nd poorest country in Africa and 7th in the world? Did you know that in Sub-saharan Africa a child dies every 3 seconds? And Malawi is right in Sub-saharan Africa. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have HIV/Aids it's not very pleasant. Did you know that almost every child has lost one or both of there parents? They usually live with there grandparents if they have any. Not very many adults make it past the age of 37 or 38. And 43% of the children don't make it to the age of 5. That's why I really want to help these children. And I really want to help them with what they need. And just buy them what they want and just bless that country. They have such severe pain. I'm just so excited to go and help them. We are so lucky to live in Canada where there is medicine to help with all these diseases.

Thank-you for your continual support everybody. We've been having a couple school doing things. I'd like to thank St. Bernards and Holy Cross for hundreds of "Bags of Hope" they were great and a big thanks to the girls after school program at St. James who raised $172.00 by having a bake sale!! I got to meet the girls yesterday and we talked.

I'm really excited. I can't wait until I get to Africa to help these children. I might be a little bit nervous about the animals there. I really hope that there will be a change there when I get back. I really want to help these children. To them that will be their Christmas time because they don't get much there. Thank-you to everybody who came out to the Musical Cafe. We had a really fun night and we heard lots of good music. I especially want to thank my Dad Andrew, my Mom Sue, Joy, Karen, Cherie, Erinn, Debbie and the others who helped the cafe happen. Thanks to everybody who baked and to all the musicians that performed. It was really fun meeting you.
We made $1200 that night and I sold an extra $100 of baking on Sunday that was left over!! We now have raised a little over $15,000!!! Don't forget to buy or order your t-shirts and caps!! The more people wearing them, the more people will see them and ask what is happening. Time is short but I know in my heart that God has $800,000 for Malawi! Hello there, Me, my mom and Joy have been thinking about how to get the $800,000. And God told Joy to use the power of multiplication through email. And God told me and my mom to asking people to give $5.00 only to the children of Malawi. And if every person who see's this can email 10 people and tell those 10 people to email another 10 people andif they feel like they should send $5.00 then the children could get $5000 by emailing it through only 3 times!! And it will keep on going and there will be more than one person doing this. All donations are going directly to the children and families in Malawi. Either into food or items that they could start a business or at least plant food to feed there own families. They have so little. I don't think we understand how little they really have. Thank-you to all those that came out to the Feast on Saturday Night!! We had lots of people come and the night was a lot of fun. I got to meet new people and get to know some. Thanks for letting me share my heart with you. We made about $4,600 which brings our total fundraised money over $10,000!! That is a lot of money.

I want to thank all the helpers too. Especially my mom and Joy. All the people in the kitchen and helping with tables and the silent auction did great too. Thank-you to all of you who helped me and my mom.

Our next event is the Musical Cafe which will be on Saturday, November 25th (My baby brothers birthday!!) It will go from 6:30 to around 10:00 or even later if lots of people want to come and sing and do something.
Tickets cost only $5.00 and include a beverage and dessert as well as being able to listen to lots of good music. Me and my sister will play a few piano songs during the night too.

Hope for Malawi

Hi, My name is Jaako and I am going to Malawi, Africa in January 2007.
In May 2006 while I was praying, God told me to go to Africa to tell the kids about His love, to bring them much needed supplies and money. I will be bringing them at least 1,000 "Bags of Hope" as well. They are ziploc bags filled with small items such as: small bouncy balls, crayons or short pencil crayons, small note pads, socks, jewellery, Hot Wheel Cars, Hard candy ect. It's like the Christmas Shoe Boxes but on a smaller scale. I want to give a bag to each child that I meet. A friend named Rita (along with others) is sewing up little bags that they can go into.
Please pray for me. The Children in Malawi are very poor and have lost either one or both parents to aids. Please consider donating to these kids.
